In its place stood the classicist Redoute, which was bombed from the castle to ruins by the Austrians, with similar functions until the Buda city storm of 1849. The new Romanesque, Byzantine and Moorish style Vigadó building was handed over in 1865.
The Pesti Vigadó served several purposes: in the 19th century, festive and charity balls, festive receptions and receptions were organized, and it was the venue for many classical music performances. Several of these were among the highlights of Hungarian history.
